Re-Imagining Family Governance (2021 Conference)

9TH NOVEMBER 2021

Dr Claudia Binz Astrachan (Lucerne School of Business) and Professor Isabel Botero (University of Louisville) discussed preliminary findings from new research from the IFB Research Foundation at the IFB’s 2021 conference. In their presentation, they discussed some of the common family governance challenges experienced by business families, such as the tendency to use structural solutions to address emotional issues, or using boilerplate governance policies and mechanisms that poorly fit one’s family values and objectives, which often ends up causing more conflict in the family, rather than preventing it.
