Business Family Governance 2.0

The report from the Family Business Research Foundation summarizes findings from new research on family governance carried out by Dr. Claudia Binz Astrachan (Lucerne School of Business) and Professor Isabel Botero (University of Louisville). The research included a review of existing research on family governance, a survey of family representatives of business families, and a series of case studies with members of multigenerational business families. The report discusses what is known about family governance based on earlier studies, and gives an overview of what family governance looks like in practice, illustrated by examples of enterprising families’ unique governance journeys. These findings form the basis for the six principles of good family governance and the reflection questions presented at the end of the report.
